Krista’s Values
-

Responsible
Preventing the politicization of the board table, a non-partisan approach to addressing issues in education. In order to make decisions in the best interest of all students, trustees must not present a conflict of interest. The board must be able to fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities and obligation to students without political pressures.
-

Sustainable
Advocating for predictable, adequate, sustainable funding to address class size, classroom complexities, new enrollment, curriculum resources and assessments, capital projects, and teacher retention and recruitment.
-

Autonomous
Protecting the autonomy of the locally elected school board. The best decisions for public education are made when the decision makers live in and understand the needs of their communities.
With over two decades in education as a teacher, school council leader, and provincial advocate, Krista understands the unique needs of our community. She has built trusted relationships with parents, educators, and decision-makers and knows how to navigate policies and challenges that shape our schools. Krista is committed to ensuring effective public education through collaborative leadership and accountable governance.
It is now more important than ever to elect candidates who are knowledgeable and passionate about education in EIPS. They must be dedicated to working hard as a team to make the best decisions for all the students and staff throughout our system.
Krista Scott is such an individual. She has demonstrated her commitment to education through her personal education, through her involvement in her children’s school councils, through her involvement in the EIPS Committee of School Councils, and through her involvement in the Alberta School Councils’ Association.
As a former Trustee, I was at many meetings in which Krista took part. Through this interaction, I can attest to Krista consistently showing her dedication, her preparedness and her passion for the education of our children.
