I've had a few people ask me why I use the word "we" when I talk about Elk Island Public Schools.
I am not an employee of Elk Island Public Schools, but I have been a parent volunteer here for over fifteen years. I sat around school council tables at Fultonvale, SCA, and Bev Facey as my kids attended those schools, and I went to the district COSC meeting and participated there the first Wednesday of every month for so many years.
When Elk Island Public Schools engages stakeholders, including parents, I believe that what we say matters. I believe that it can shape forward motion and that it can change people's minds. We need to contribute to our community if we want to be part of it, and that's why I say we.
